The edible flower seed mix for horses
VITALstyle Meadow Flowers is a blend of various flower seeds for a varied horse pasture, for creating a flower strip, for use in the garden or in a flower box. The flowers and plants are edible in their entirety for horses and ponies and provide extra variety in their diet or as a treat. It is suitable for all soil types. Feed sparingly.
When to sow Meadow Flowers?
Meadow Flowers can be sown in spring and autumn. For optimal germination of the flower seeds, a correct soil acidity and sufficient nutrients are essential. Measure the soil pH with the VITALstyle pH Soil Test and lime with VITALstyle Meadow Lime at a pH <6. The optimal soil acidity for Meadow Flowers is between 6 and 7. The flowering of Meadow Flowers depends on the sowing time, the temperature, and the soil moisture content. The mixture contains annual and perennial flower species.
Sowing: April to June | Flowering: end of July to October
Sowing: September and October | Flowering: end of March to beginning of July
Where to sow Meadow Flowers?
You can sow Meadow Flowers in the meadow, along the meadow, in a separate herb/flower strip or simply at home in the flower or plant box! Please note that you mark the sown areas in the horse pasture, so that they can grow well first. The flowers are extremely tasty for horses and would otherwise be quickly grazed before they had grown properly!
