This jaw piece has a D shape. The D-rings ensure that the mouthpiece lies quietly and stably in the mouth. The pressure of the D against the cheek makes steering easier, because the head is automatically pushed in the right direction. This makes the bit suitable for young horses, for example. Due to the shape of this jaw piece it is less easy to pull the bit through the mouth. The locked mouthpiece resembles a single-broken bit, but cannot fold in half like a normal single-broken bit. The bit blocks under counter pressure, turning it into a bar and making it a sharper bit. With less pressure on the reins, the bit changes back to a single broken bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that are against the hand and walk through the hand. The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and stimulates the horse's saliva production in a natural way. This will cause the horse to foam more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to brown-gray.
