It takes a while before...

It takes a while before it is "good" but safety above all else. Would recommend putting the vest on at home and just letting it walk around and sit for half an hour to get used to it. Our daughter has always ridden without it, but as she gets more experience and more daring, she likes the idea of being well protected on horseback.

Waist to waist is measured over the shoulder. Place the measuring tape at waist level and measure over the shoulder to the same height on the other side.

The chest circumference of size S is 57 to 61 cm and the waist circumference is 48 to 54 cm. At Maat M the chest circumference is 57 to 65 cm and the waist is 54-57 cm. It is best to measure the person.
