Over time, Sweet Iron bites will create rusty places.
This rust tastes sweet and is experienced by the horse.
The horse will create more saliva and will foam well, making it easier for the bite.
The blue color of the bit gradually changes to gray / brown with the rust spots visible on the nozzle.
Clean the piece with a damp cloth when the spots show orange rust.
This can happen, for example, if the bit is temporarily unused or too damply hung.
