Groene Os Evening Primrose Oil

Evening primrose borage oil horse & pony has a new packaging and a new format. It goes from a 50 ml bottle with pipette to a 100 ml bottle with a handy dosing pump. This makes it easier to dose for horses and large dogs.

With the standard dosage for a horse you easily give 2 to 4 ml per day and that is quite a few drops. The original 50 ml bottle was used up very quickly. This new packaging is also suitable for large dogs!

Evening primrose oil is rich in omega 6 fatty acids. These omega-6 fatty acids are 'essential', which means that animals cannot produce them themselves. Because these fatty acids are indispensable in a balanced animal diet, it is important to supplement them (if necessary).

Evening primrose oil is rich in the polyunsaturated fatty acids GLA (gammal inolenic acid) and LA (linoleic acid). GLA is important for, among other things, the mucous membranes, skin and hormones. Linoleic acid is found in several vegetable oils, but evening primrose oil is one of the few oils that also contains a high concentration of GLA. A healthy animal converts some of the linoleic acid from evening primrose oil into GLA itself.

Evening primrose oil can also be applied externally to soften and care for the skin and is nourishing and protective for the skin. The oil can be used for dry, flaky and itchy skin.

How to use?
Instructions for use internally

Initial use:
25 drops twice a day through the food.

If there is a clear improvement, switch to maintenance use and administer the above amount once a day.

20 drops = 1 ml

Directions for use: Apply externally 1-2 times a day

Evening primrose is nourishing and protective for the skin. The oil can be used for dry, flaky and itchy skin.

Vitamin E protects cells against oxidative stress and is known to help the skin recover. We use the natural form of vitamin E and not the synthetic one, as the natural form has a better effect. This strong antioxidant also prevents oxidation in the bottle, making it last longer in a natural way.

Details and interactions

Simultaneous use of prednisone or NSAIDs can enhance the effect of these medications. The dosage may possibly be reduced. Please contact the treating veterinarian about this.

In high doses, Evening Primrose Oil has a blood thinning effect. Therefore, high doses should be avoided in the 14 days before a surgical or dental procedure or when concomitantly using blood-thinning medication. Fatty acids can oxidize quickly. The added vitamin E counteracts this, so Evening Primrose Oil from De Groene Os can also be stored in the stable.

Use during pregnancy and lactation in consultation with the vet or therapist.

Store in a dry, dark and cool place before and after opening.
