The eggbutt bit is a standard jaw piece. The rings cannot move loosely so that the aid comes through more directly and the bit lies relatively still in the mouth. In addition, the bit prevents the lips from becoming jammed, so that bit rings are not necessary for this jaw piece.

The single-jointed bit has one hinge point, which means that there is less pressure on the tongue than with a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single joint mouthpiece acts mainly on the layers, the side of the tongue and can also act on the palate. A single joint mouthpiece is considered a standard mouthpiece.
