The snaffle bit is a standard jaw piece. The rings cannot move freely, so that the help comes through more directly and the bit lies relatively still in the mouth. In addition, the bit prevents the lips from getting jammed, so that bit rings are not necessary with this jaw piece. The mouthpiece with brass rings is a variant of the double jointed bit. The rings in the middle encourage the horse to play with the bit. This increases the tongue activity so that a horse will produce more saliva and the jaws can relax more so that the horse will release more quickly in the mouth. The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and stimulates the horse's saliva production in a natural way. This will cause the horse to foam more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits into brown-grey.
