In the Washing Machine
First, for top-notch results, clean the blanket with Nikwax Rug Wash™. No need to dry it before using Rug Proof. Just make sure it’s well-washed and rinsed.

• Remove soap residue from the soap dish.
• Put the clean blanket in the washing machine.
• Use 500ml for one blanket. Treat one blanket at a time.
• Run a washing programme at 30° for cotton.

By Hand
Fill a tub with 10 litres of lukewarm water and add 500ml of Rug Proof.

• Stir and immerse the blanket completely in the solution.
• Add another 15 litres of warm water and move the blanket through the liquid.
• Soak for 2 hours, occasionally moving the blanket.
• Rinse in cold water until the water runs clear.

With a Sponge
Use gloves. Lay out the clean blanket on a clean surface and wet it down.

• For one blanket, mix 500ml of Rug Proof with 1.5 litres of lukewarm water.
• Rub the solution into the fabric with a new sponge, focusing on the seams.
• Work the back of the blanket with the remainder. Leave for 5-10 minutes.
• Rinse until the water runs clear.

Hang to dry, or, if the washing instructions allow, use a tumble dryer on low temperature.
