This Nikwax Rug Proof adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR) while maintaining the blanket's breathability. It has been specially developed for breathable waterproof blankets. Rug Proof leaves a flexible, water-repellent layer, allows water vapor to pass through and thus retains its breathability while protecting your horse from the rain. Because the Rug Proof is used in the washing machine, the seams etc. are also well reached.

User manual washing machine:

For best results, clean first with Nikwax Rug Wash™. It is not necessary to dry the articles before impregnation. It is vital that the blankets are washed and rinsed well. Shake well before use. Consult the washing instructions.

  • Remove all soap residue from the soap dish.
  • Put the clean blanket in the washing machine.
  • Use 500ml for 1 blanket. Treat 1 blanket at a time.
  • Run a washing program at 30° for cotton.

    • Manual:

  • Fill a tub with 10 liters of lukewarm water and add 500ml of Rug Proof to it.
  • Stir and immerse the blanket completely in the solution.
  • Add another 15 liters of warm water and move the blanket through the liquid.
  • Let this soak for 2 hours, occasionally moving the blanket.
  • Rinse in cold water until the rinse water is clear.

    • With a sponge:

  • Use gloves. Spread the clean blanket on a clean surface and spray it wet.
  • For 1 blanket, use 500ml Rug proof with 1.5 liters of lukewarm water.
  • Rub the solution into the fabric with a new sponge. Pay extra attention to the seams.
  • Work the back of the blanket with the remainder. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes.
  • Rinse until the water runs clear.

    • Hang to dry or, if washing instructions permit, use tumble dryer on a low temperature.
