Bitless bridles are not a new idea. People have been using them for centuries before bits even existed. They used ropes as simple halters, which evolved into the first bitless bridles.

How It Works
This bridle works by applying pressure to the horse's nose and cheeks, not the mouth. It uses direct reins that connect the rider's hand to the horse's head, making it comfortable for the horse.

Simple Design
This system includes the F.R.A. sidepull. The leather noseband ends in rings on both cheeks, attaching the chinstrap and cheekpiece. The reins attach to another ring there, refining control. A small leather strap connects the noseband to the cheekpiece, keeping everything in place and allowing pressure on the cheeks.

Rope Knot Halters
The rope knot halters come in various designs and sizes—6mm, 7mm, and 8mm. For example, the Babia comes in three sizes, while the Capal (6mm) and Pablo (7mm) have additional nubuck or leather nose protection.

Perfect Fit
It's essential that the halters fit snugly around the horse's head. Both the side pull and button halter should rest on the hard part of the nose, beginning at the nasal bone. The chinstrap should be secure but not too tight to avoid twisting.

Effect
The term "sidepull" literally means to pull sideways. When the rider pulls on the reins, this bridle exerts pressure on the opposite cheek, directing the horse as needed. It's perfect for tempo changes or stopping with minimal pressure. Just be careful when lunging; use the proper rings and lunge goggles for normal lunging and double lines. Note, button halters aren't suitable for lunging.
