Heat Technology
Heat is a non-invasive, gentle, and widely accepted form of therapy with many benefits. However, it is important that heat is delivered at the correct temperature and for an appropriate duration to achieve the desired effects.
If temperatures are too low, there is unlikely to be any significant effect on the tissue. If temperatures are too high, or applied for too long, tissue damage may occur.
Our Heatsense Pad has been thoroughly tested to ensure heat is delivered according to supporting research. Various sources determined the following requirements for the Massage Pad Heatsense:
- Heat is delivered between 40–45 degrees Celsius.
- The target temperature is maintained for 15 minutes.
- Heat should never exceed 45 degrees Celsius for an extended period of time.
Heat Sensor Technology
Due to the risks associated with heat and the narrow target range for therapeutic heat, we developed an intelligent monitoring system that constantly checks the temperature being delivered to the horse. This adjusts automatically to ensure a consistent, repeatable session every time the pad is used.
This is especially important for a product that is strapped to the horse and cannot be easily moved away from.
As the temperature reaches the target of 42 degrees Celsius, power to the heat pads is cut off. As the temperature drops, power resumes. This process continues to ensure the horse receives 15 minutes at the target temperature.
This monitoring system also prevents the pad from heating tissue that is already warm, whether due to ambient temperature or recent exercise. The left and right sides of the pad operate independently, meaning one side may receive heat while the other side is too warm.
