What materials are used in the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots?
Inner Layer: The spacer fabric on the inside of the boot creates a soft lining against your horse’s leg. Ideal as a ‘cushion’ and comfortable to wear, the spacer fabric also allows heat and moisture to pass through easily, removing sweat and warmth from the skin. This fabric doesn’t hold water, ensuring the boots remain lightweight even when wet.
Outer Layer: EVA material, commonly used in shoe soles and sports equipment padding – durable, breathable, and protective. Easy to clean and maintain. Tested in a lab to withstand significant brushing action, EVA is abrasion- and scratch-resistant, water-repellent, and provides excellent impact protection.
Who are the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots for?
In short, the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots are suitable for everyone. Thanks to their breathable and protective properties, they can be used for flatwork, hacking, even splashing through water without becoming heavy, and turnout in all conditions.
The breathable material makes them ideal year-round, especially in hot weather. Unlike traditional neoprene brushing boots, the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots provide excellent ventilation to keep your horse’s legs cool and are the most breathable boot in our range.
Their design and available sizes also fit a wide variety of horses – from fine-boned horses to those with feathering. The design also allows free movement of the fetlock, a high-motion joint that is fundamental to how your horse moves.
Why use Brushing Boots?
Brushing Boots are a popular choice to protect against ‘brushing’ injuries, which occur when one leg or hoof strikes the opposite leg. They are also commonly used to protect against minor scrapes during schooling, hacking, or turnout. These modern brushing boots are lightweight, durable, and the most cost-effective option for everyday use.
Depending on your horse and its workload, more protection may be needed. Check out the Tri-Zone All Sports Boots, which offer not only all-round protection but also targeted tendon protection. This is particularly useful for jumping, fast work, or horses with large movements.
