Training is all about clear, honest communication. Some horses develop best with a bit that offers calm and stability, while the mouthpiece has a refined, responsive action. The TRUST double-jointed eggbutt snaffle was developed for exactly that balance: an even, refined action combined with a stable position in the mouth.

This makes the bit particularly suitable for horses in training, as well as experienced horses that benefit from a consistent contact.

The mouthpiece – Double-jointed
The mouthpiece is double-jointed and anatomically shaped. This shape follows the contours of the horse's mouth, so pressure is distributed evenly across the tongue, lips, and bars.

A double-jointed construction spreads pressure more evenly than a single-jointed mouthpiece. This creates a more stable and comfortable feel for many horses, without sacrificing clarity in the aids. For horses with a very narrow lower jaw, careful fitting is always important, to make sure the joints have enough room.

The cheekpiece – Eggbutt
The eggbutt cheekpiece is known for its fixed, stable construction. Because the rings don't move freely through the mouthpiece, the bit lies more quietly in the mouth. This translates to:

• A direct and clear rein connection and action
• Less vertical movement of the bit

More confidence for horses that are sensitive to unrest in the mouth The stable position makes this cheekpiece particularly suitable for horses that benefit from consistent contact and clear boundaries.

The material – Sweet Iron
This bit is made from Sweet Iron, a material that actively contributes to relaxation in the mouth. Contact with moisture triggers a natural oxidation process, which releases a slightly sweet taste and stimulates salivation. Sufficient saliva production supports a supple connection and encourages the jaw to release.

Sweet Iron's characteristic blue colour gradually changes to brownish-grey through this natural process — a normal and desired effect that is part of how the material works. While coatings can wear off over time, the core of high-quality steel retains its effect and reliability for the long term.

Suitability
The TRUST double-jointed eggbutt snaffle is a versatile bit that fits within a wide range of training stages. It is a deliberate choice for:

• Young horses building confidence
• Horses that benefit from stability in the contact
• Riders who want to combine refined aids with direct communication
• Horses that respond well to even pressure distribution

This bit is designed within the applicable guidelines for competition use. For competitions under FEI rules, always check the most current regulations.
