What is devil's claw?

Devil's claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) is a plant native to the dry regions of Southern Africa, including Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. It takes its name from its distinctive hooked fruits. For generations it has been traditionally used in animal nutrition and care. The root is mainly processed into an extract for use in complementary feeds. Thanks to its botanical origin, devil's claw is a natural addition to the daily ration.
